My favorite bakery (I’ll discuss the bakery another day when there’s less butter on my fingers, might be a while) has started making Kouign Amann (I pronounce it “queen ah-mahn,” but quickly because I have no talent for French) or “butter cake.”
It’s a pastry from Brittany. Basically, puff pastry, butter and sugar, add more butter and sugar, a little more butter and sugar for good measure, and caramelize. Don’t bother faking an emergency text, just get up and leave the meeting you’re in and find yourself a Kouign Amann.
